INTERACTIVE TOY TESTS

Having a pup who requires mental stimulation is both challenging and rewarding. I would never say that “I would love a dumb dog” but sometimes I do wish that I didn’t have to feel that I was competing IQ wise with my border collie/lab/ supermutt mix Pixie. She is a huge fan of interactive toys and really keep her at ease with her nervous energy. Sharing some tests with products that I’ve been testing in my own home and my thoughts.

I’m on the hunt for a dog toy that is interactive and that makes my dog work for a carrot that she can’t destroy.

Up Dog Toys - The Odin

This puzzle toy is very interesting because it keeps my fur family interested. Let me clarify, I bought this toy for my dog Pixie but daily I see my cat Duke (the smart cat) pushing this around the house after Pixie has gotten tired of it to get treats out.

How to Use:

I fill this with a couple of kibbles and Pixie plays with this and is very engaged. With some puzzle toys I notice that if she cannot hack it that she knows how to game the system she loses interest. However, what I really love about The Odin is that it feels like the gift that keeps on giving. Pixie uses this toy on a come and go basis.

Our Woof Rating:

I give this toy 10/ 10 bones!! I love the aesthetic and I love the design and it is durable. It is a great toy for working dog parents who need to give their pet something to work on when they leave. Highly recommend!

Starmark Pet Products - Everlasting Treat Groovy Ball

I bought this as a replacement for my dog’s favorite interactive toy which was the Starmark Fire Hydrant. She had one of those toys for 5 years and another for 2. This is the new iteration of this toy where you can put treats or kibble within the toy to your dog’s delight.

How to Use:

Fill the internal cavity of this toy with treats, a baby carrot or kibble. Your dog will chew on this toy to try to remove every morsel of their beloved treat.

Our Woof Rating:

I give this toy a 5/10 bones. I really really love the old toy and wish that it had not been discontinued. Pixie would have to spend a lot of time and effort to get her carrot out and would end up tilting it to get it to fall into her mouth so that it looked like my dog was desperately trying to drink a cocktail which makes me laugh. This version of the toy for my dog allows her to get to the treat within 20 seconds so it really loves the interactivty and puzzle element of the toy.

Fluff & Tuff - 'Ross' Brachiosaurus

Fluff & Tuff - 'Ross' Brachiosaurus

Finding a quality dog toy that is durable for Pixie and a great design is a very tough mix. I love the Brachiosaurus named for Ross in Friends. A fun fact about Lauren, I wanted to be a paleontologist for years as a kid.

How to Use:

Great cute toy that Pixie loves!!

Our Woof Rating:

I give this toy 10/ 10 bones!! Fluff & Tuff is a great quality toy because they are all double stitched making them a toy that holds up to my dog. Pixie uses her Ross dinosaur for Tug-O-War and playing fetch.

Earth Animal - No Hide

Earth Animal - No Hide

These are faux-rawhides that are incredible. Pixie has nervous energy and these No-Hides end up being a pacifier for her. Especially during this quarantine, Pixie loves having us around but WFH but its tough having us work all day.

How to Use:

These no-hides are actually made of something similar to a pizza crust and then dipped in Chicken giving them the flavor. I would always supervise your pup when they have something like this to avoid any choking hazards.

Our Woof Rating:

I give this toy 10/ 10 bones!! I love these!! Pixie has a sensitive system and rawhides tear her stomach up. The Earth Animal No-Hides settle very well for Pixie.
