Controversy: A Dog's Purpose Film Scene Involving German Shepherd Nearly Drowning
A Dog's Purpose is a movie coming out soon based off of a book that is a love story about the relationships of humans and their dogs. Yesterday controversy erupted when TMZ released a video showing a terrified German Shepherd named Hercules being forced into the water to do a stunt during the filming of the movie. The animal after being forced into water very quickly become submerged and had to be saved by scuba divers on set.
Hercules is okay thankfully but this is so unacceptable and disturbing to watch. To see the trainer forcing a dog's head under water is just horrible.
The Humane Society which is responsible for the safety of animals on film and TV sets had representatives at the filming to ensure that "No Animals were Hurt in the Filming of this movie." The Associated Press announced that it has suspended the animal safety representative who worked on the film and has launched an independent investigation, a spokesperson told the Associated Press.
Josh Gad, one of my favorite actors is a voice of one of the characters and a huge supporter of rescue animals and has a rescue dog himself has released his reaction to seeing this disturbing video. Josh Gad has had a long relationship with PETA. See his detailed tweet below!
PETA is now calling for a boycott of the movie "A Dog's Purpose". And a complete investigation is being conducted by Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures.
