4th of July Food Safety Tips
Every 4th of July, millions of Americans come together to show their patriotism, with food, fireworks, and fun. While your four legged friends gear up to join your barbecue party, they will be ever curious of the yummy smells coming from the kitchen and the grill. It will be tempting to offer your Independence Day fare to your pup, but not all of it is safe to share.
To help you prepare for a safe day with your dog, we have pulled together lists of foods to avoid sharing and foods to offer to as a safe alternative.
Key foods to avoid feeding your dog:
Steak and Burgers
Chocolate and Candy
Alcohol and Beer
Fruit Seeds and Pits
Grapes and Raisins
Safe alternatives for your pooch:
Green Beans (remove ends)
Bananas (no peel)
Oranges (no seeds and no peel)
Seedless Watermelon (no rind)
Apple Slices (no seeds or core)
Lean Meat (cooked)
As always, call or visit your veterinarian before introducing new foods to your dog. Every dog is different and may not react the same way to the same food.
We hope you and your fur babies have a great 4 th of July!
