For the last 12 years, medical doctor, Dr. Brian Rambarran, has used his pilot license to help save the lives of hundreds of furry friends. 

While speaking to “ABC World News Tonight with David Muir” in August 2024, Rambarran noted that he has worked with Pilots and Paws to assist puppies in kill-shelters and finding their forever homes. The doctor will fly to different rescues throughout the United States and take puppies to Nickel City Canine Rescue in his hometown, Buffalo, New York. 

During an August 2024 “Good Morning America” interview,  Rambarran also shared how Nickel City Canine Rescue works with Noah’s Advocates for Animals in North Carolina. Those who work for Noah’s Advocates for Animals will let Nickel City Canine Rescue know when they have obtained puppies from different kill shelters that need transportation. According to Rambarran, the flights usually happen once a month. 

Rambarran, who has a rescue dog named Toby, also shared that the puppies often express gratitude for his hard work. 

“I will say the biggest thanks I get from when I land, are the puppy kisses. That’s about as much thanks as you need,” said the doctor. 

While speaking to “Good Morning America,” Brandon Wolf, of Nickel City Canine Rescue, noted that a viral video of Rambarran transporting the puppies has brought attention to their mission. 

“It’s just the awareness that is coming to us from this. And the attention that we’ve been getting. I mean we have had people reach out to us and to apply to foster, to apply to adopt, to apply to volunteer. I mean this transport alone raised $ 7, $8 thousand for us,” said Wolf.
