Should Dogs Eat Apples?

At the height of Brat Summer, my dog and I spent many hours practicing the “Apple” dance. While the choreography is relatively easy, I’m not the most coordinated and my dog demanded that I get the steps exactly right. After all, she’s a major Charli xcx stan, and felt like I wasn’t giving the song the respect it deserves.

After finally nailing the “Apple” dance, my dog began requesting to try an actual apple. It was very much a “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” situation.

Luckily for my furry friend, apples are absolutely fine to give your canine companion, as reported by the American Kennel Club. The fruit is beneficial, with plenty of fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. While it's a delicious and nutritious snack, you should always be mindful of how many apples you are feeding your furry friend. Too much of the fruit can cause some tummy issues, which you want to avoid.

In addition, you should cut up fruit before handing it over to your furry friend. It’s also important to never feed your canine companion the seeds, as it does have some cyanide.

You should always contact your dog’s vet before adding anything new to their diet.
