Katie Sturino Surprises Fans With Another Rescue Dog

Katie Sturino has cemented herself as one of the most devoted animal rescuers on social media.

The beloved body acceptance advocate announced she adopted another rescue dog in an April 7 Instagram upload. The post included several pictures of her extremely photographic pup, who has not yet been named. In the caption of the post, Sturino shared that her new furry friend “is a 9 month old English Toy Spaniel.” She also revealed that the canine companion was residing at the New York-based rescue, True North Pet Rescue, “after she was dumped by a breeder” because of some imperfections.

“She’s only got one working eye and a bald tail but we think she’s perfect!” wrote Sturino.

The social media star also expressed gratitude toward Dr. Lisa Lippman, DVM, “for helping figure out her medical history.” Sturino concluded the caption by mentioning her very good girl, Baby Ruth, who she adopted from the Animal League in December 2022.

The “Body Talk: How to Embrace Your Body and Start Living Your Best Life” author introduced her gorgeous spaniel to her social media followers in a December 2022 Instagram post. In the caption, Sturino revealed that the precious pup is a “5-year-old puppymill survivor,” who was rescued with the help of the Animal League. The devoted dog mom also noted that New York City implemented a ban on the sale of puppy mill dogs in pet stores.

“That means that the life Ruth endured (bred at every cycle, living in a cage, no proper care, no positive human interaction) will become less of a reality for more pups as states start to shut down commercial breeding facilities,” explained Sturino.

The social media sensation shared that her canine companion showed quite a bit of courage after finding her forever home.

“The brave baby has already had knee surgery, taken her first flight, got her first groom, sat on her first couch, and is loving her Dads snuggles so much,” shared the 39-year-old.

Sturino also mentioned that her beloved spaniel, Cheese, passed away unexpectedly at 8 years old in November 2022. She shared she believed she and her husband, John Forkin, “are lucky to heal together with Ruthy” after the tragedy.

As fans are aware, the entrepreneur adopted Cheese from the True and Faithful Pet Rescue in 2018. Before finding her forever family, the sweet pup was a breeding dog at a puppy mill. Before bringing home Cheese, Sturino owned three other rescue dogs, Toast, Muppet, and Pants, who were also saved from puppy mills. Unfortunately, the sweet dogs have since passed away.

Here at Woof Republic, we are so happy for Katie, John, Baby Ruth, and Baby Ruth’s new little sister!
