John Mulaney Announces the Passing of His Beloved Dog Petunia
Comedian John Mulaney announced that his French Bulldog, Petunia, who he shared with his ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, has passed away. The “Baby J” star shared the devastating news with his Instagram followers in an April 28 post. The upload featured a picture of Mulaney holding his canine companion when she was a puppy.
“Petunia, I loved you from the first moment I saw you. Rest in peace. Thank you for being my little shadow,” read the caption of the poignant post.
Tendler also uploaded an Instagram post in memory of the precious pup. The artist shared several photos of her spending time with the adorable French Bulldog
In the caption, she described the late dog as her “best friend and the great love of [her] life.” She also shared that her pup had humor and wit, stating, “You were the funniest. You were the smartest. You were the weirdest.”
“Everything about you was the best thing,” asserted Tendler. “To think I will never again hold you, hear you, or see your big, beautiful brown eyes gazing back at me seems unfathomable.
She then expressed gratitude toward Petunia.
“Thank you for letting me be your constant companion, and for being mine. I love you with every part of me. Until we meet again in our next life ❤️,” continued the makeup artist.
As fans are aware, Mulaney would often reference Petunia in his standup specials before his 2021 divorce from Tendler. The comedian gushed about the precious pup in a 2014 interview on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.” He shared that he believed the furry friend was his “daughter.” He also revealed that the dog had excellent comedic timing, comparing her to a performer from the sketch comedy show, “The Carol Burnett Show.”
“Having a French Bulldog puppy it’s like being on a show that’s all bloopers like she never does anything normal I’ll be like Petunia, I’ll get your breakfast ready, and then she comes back with a loofa in her mouth like it’s ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ and she’s trying to make me laugh. She’s very adorable,” shared Mulaney.
Rest in peace, Petunia, you very good girl.
