Howard the Dog's the American Dog Rescue Show Winner's - DNA Test Revealed

If you haven’t met Howard the Dog, he is one of the most unique dogs I’ve ever met. He is the embodiment of Adopt Don’t Shop and what being a rescue dog means, in my opinion. He is a dog who is no taller than a basset hound but is 60 pounds of PURE MUSCLE. Howard took the esteemed honor of winning The American Dog Rescue Show this year which was hosted by The Hallmark Channel.

In honor of today, May 20th being National Rescue Dog Day we thought it would be fun to work with Embark Vet who has the premier Doggy DNA Tests. Think 23 and Me but for canines. Many times with rescue dogs there is little to no information about the dog their back story, lineage, and the rescue group has to take the best guess as the breed from what they know.

Larissa Wohl the Hallmark Channel’s Pet Rescue Expert, Howard’s parents Walt and Alex and I did a fun game where I only knew the results and they had to guess the different breeds. The results and this game were quite interesting!!!

Embark Vet was gracious enough to donate a test so that we could learn about Howard’s DNA. Howard is a melting pot of so many different breeds and even the rescue thought by his attributes that he was one thing and it turns out he was something entirely.

This is a fun watch, we had a fun day!!

With Embark Vet the process is quite simple:

  1. Take a Swab inside your dog’s month

  2. Then all you have to do is mail us the sample in a provided pre-paid return envelope and your results will be available in a few weeks.

If you buy a DNA test, I highly recommend Embark Vet for the following reasons:
