Honorary WSU Mascot Dash Dog Has Passed Away
Dash Dog, the honorary Washington State University mascot, has passed away.
Dash’s owner, Andre Edlund announced the heartbreaking news in an April 30 Instagram post. The post featured numerous photos of the very good boy throughout his life. In the caption, he assured Dash’s 66,000 social media followers that his dog’s passing was peaceful following his battle with cancer.
”Dash had the biggest heart… & my heart is broken 💔 He was a total daddy’s boy & my best friend. We were devoted to each other for 13 amazing years. It was an honor to be his protector & caretaker,” wrote Edlund.
He also shared that he was aware his furry friend captivated the hearts of many.
”My heart is also bursting because I know how much Dash meant to so many others. If you ever met Dash, you know how special he was. Whether you knew he was famous or not, Dash always lifted your spirits & made you smile. Thank you for loving him ❤️,” read a portion of the post.
He also encouraged the Honorary Cougar’s fans to share their “favorite Dash pictures & memories” on Instagram.
As fans of the beautiful golden retriever are aware, the pup shot to social media stardom in 2018, after Edlund shared an image of his fluffy friend carrying a hot dog while attending in Mariners Game. While speaking to Washington State Magazine, Edlund, who graduated from the university, explained that he and his pup shared a love of Seattle sports teams, especially the Washington State University Cougars.
Rest in peace, Dash, you sweet boy!
