Actor Chris Pine Reveals His Favorite Parts of Being a Dog Dad

If you are a fan of Chris Pine, you are well aware that he is one of the biggest dog lovers in Hollywood. The actor is a devoted dog dad to rescue pups named Babs and Wednesday. Pine also frequently fosters dogs who are looking for their forever homes.

People magazine reported that Pine, who just released the children’s book, “When Digz the Dog Met Zurl the Squirrel: A Short Tale About a Short Tail,” said he has had a lifelong love of canine companions.

"When I was seven, my parents took me to adopt a dog, and so we got Lucy. She was a small dog, and I had her from when I was seven until I was [in my 20s],” said Pine.

Pine said he was heartbroken after Lucy passed away and refrained from getting another dog for 15 years.

"Then I went 15 years without a dog. I was traveling a lot, working and starting my career, but then I got Wednesday, and really, it's no hyperbole to say how that she's taught me everything about love and patience and kindness," said Pine.

Pine also shared that one of his favorite aspects of dog ownership is "morning cuddles.”

"It's myriad, small little things throughout the day, where they make you smile because they do something ridiculous,” said Pine during the People magazine interview. "The love that you have with your animals is profound and heart-opening. Then, the practice of that heart opening over time, I can't help but think that it bleeds into your life elsewhere. It just makes you more capable of loving, I think. My dogs have continued to teach me a lot.”

Pine is not the only celebrity to publish a children's book in honor of pups. In October 2024, Jennifer Aniston released an adorable children’s book titled, “Clydeo Takes a Bite Out of Life,” which was inspired by her very good rescue dog, Clyde. The book tells the story of a sweet pup named Clydeo trying to find his purpose and passion in life.

Aniston celebrated the release of her new book by bringing Clyde as her plus-one for the October 2 episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” She expressed gratitude to those who have purchased her book. In addition, she noted that she started the Clydeo Fund, “in honor of this book.” According to the Clydeo Fund website, the organization’s mission is to “save the lives of shelter animals, improve conditions within shelters, and bring joy and unconditional love to the homes of the humans who rescue them.”

“I care about helping animals and dogs – shelter dogs. And our shelters are in need of a lot of help as well,” said Aniston during the interview.
