How To Celebrate Pumpkin Spice Season With Your Dog
Even though it’s still technically summer, pumpkin spice season is officially upon us. (I just walked over to Starbucks in 90-degree weather to get myself a Pumpkin Spice Latte -- I am that dedicated to that drink). Unfortunately, our furry friends can never experience the joy that is a PSL as most of the drink’s ingredients are toxic to them. But like any pup parent, I never want my precious pooch to feel left out. So, I’ve compiled a list of the best ways to celebrate pumpkin spice season with your pooch.
Give Your Pup Some Pumpkin Spice-Themed Toys
My dog is obsessed with any toy, but I think she would particularly like something pumpkin spiced-themed because she, frankly, has excellent taste. They are surprisingly quite a few options for pumpkin spice-themed dog toys. My furry friend has a preference for this “Pumpkin Spice Everything” plush and this very realistic “Starbarks” one.
Give Your Pooch Some PSL Accessories
My pup is a major fashionista and loves to accessorize based on the season. That’s why she’ll be obsessed with these adorable PSL bandanas.
Make A Pup-Friendly Pumpkin Spice Treat
While it might not taste exactly like the real thing, your dog is sure to appreciate a pumpkin spice flavor treat. Southern Bytes has a super tasty recipe that calls for canned pumpkin, oats, whole wheat flour, eggs, and peanut butter.
Give Them Some Roasted or Canned Pumpkin
Pumpkins are a quintessential fall food. While your furry friend can’t enjoy a pumpkin spice latte, they can indulge in cooked or canned pumpkin. Not only is the squash delicious, but it can also alleviate some of your pup’s stomach issues. According to the AKC, “soluble fiber content in pumpkin adds bulk to your dog’s stool by absorbing water, and fiber fermentation produces beneficial fatty acids that supply energy to cells, stimulate intestinal sodium and water absorption, and lower the pH level of the large intestines.”
Dress Your Pup Up As A PSL
Halloween is just around the corner and your pup is probably already stressing out about their costume. You can help your little friend out by suggesting they go as a pumpkin spice latte. If you feel up to it, you can also DIY an adorable PSL-themed ensemble.
