How To Celebrate National Pet Month

Here at Woof Republic, we love the month of May. Not only is it getting warm enough to have outside adventures with our furry friends, but it also happens to be National Pet Month.

This is the perfect time to celebrate your canine companion. (Although I, along with many dog owners, believe they should be celebrated all year long!)

Here are some suggestions on how to celebrate National Pet Month.

Go On A Roadtrip With Your Furry Friend

This Memorial Day Weekend, consider going on a road trip with your furry friend. You’ll need to pack a few essentials for your pup like a first aid kit, travel carrier or crate, plenty of food and water, blankets, and of course, a few toys. During your road trip, you can either stay at a pet-friendly hotel or camp. If you choose the latter, make sure that the campsite allows dogs and you keep your pup leashed at all times.

Have A Picnic

There’s nothing more idyllic than having a picnic at the park. Bring a picnic blanket and prepare a basket for you and your pup. Consider packing dog-friendly fruit, as it is the perfect summer treat.

Throw A Dog Party

One of the best ways to celebrate your pup is to throw them a party. You can invite a few friends and their canine companions, or it can be just you and your pooch. Regardless of how many guests you have, make sure to decorate your space with pup-themed streamers and balloons. Also, don’t forget the cake! Here are some of our favorite dog-friendly recipes

Adopt Or Foster A Pet

According to the ASPCA, in the United States, 3.3 million dogs are taken to shelters “every year.” You can change a dog’s life by adopting them! We can tell you from personal experience that rescue dogs make for the best pets!

If you are unable to adopt, please consider fostering. It super rewarding and increases a dog’s chance of being adopted.
