Can My Dog Eat Blackberries?

My dog has some mixed feelings about living in the Pacific Northwest. She doesn't love the rain. She also seems to dislike moss, which is literally everywhere. However, my furry friend does seem to appreciate that blackberries are plentiful in the area during the summer season.

Thankfully, for my canine companion, blackberries can be introduced into dogs’ diets. According to The American Kennel Club, the fruit could be good for your dog’s health as it is full of fiber and contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and K.

However, your dog should only enjoy a few berries at a given time. Due to the fruit’s high sugar content, eating a significant amount of blackberries could lead to your dog having stomach issues, which are never fun. In addition, if you are also a PNW local, rinse the berries you picked off a bush before feeding them to your dog. If you have trouble identifying the berries you see in the wild, do not give them to your dog, as there could potentially be deadly consequences. It is also important to note that you should check with your dog’s vet before giving them any new foods.
