Can Dogs Have Strawberries?

With summer finally here, my dog and I are excited to sink our teeth into some delicious seasonal fruits. Thankfully for my canine companion, she, like most dogs, can safely enjoy a strawberry or two.

According to the American Kennel Club, strawberries are quite beneficial to our furry friends. Not only does the fruit contain fiber and vitamin C, but its enzymes make your furry friend’s already fabulous teeth even whiter.

While speaking to Forbes in 2023, however, Dr. Jennifer Power, D.V.M., stated that the fruit may not be suitable for all dogs’ diets. For this reason, you should speak to your animal’s vet before giving them the berry. In addition, pet parents need to be mindful of how many strawberries they’re giving their furry friends.

“The high sugar content in strawberries can cause digestive upset and diarrhea in some dogs,” said Power.
