Can Dogs Have Apricots?

My furry friend is spoiled beyond belief. When anyone comes over to my house they are astonished by the amount of clothes and toys she owns. But who can blame me for spoiling her? She’s an adorable little princess who deserves absolutely everything.

However, I do have a caveat to that. I will never feed my furry friend anything that could potentially cause her harm. Thankfully, there are plenty of tasty fruits that are safe for canine consumption, like apricots.

The Pet Poison Helpline reported that giving your furry friend a couple of bites of an apricot is perfectly fine. According to DogTime, the fruit has plenty of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and potassium. However, you should always speak to your dog’s vet before adding any new foods to their diet.

In addition, you should never allow your furry friend to ingest the pit or stem of an apricot. Not only are the pit and stem choking hazards, but it also has the chemical compound, cyanide, which can be fatal to our furry friends.

If you believe your dog has ingested an apricot pit, take them to the vet as soon as possible!
