Best Dog Parks: Seattle

As a former Seattlite, I am quite opinionated on the topic of The best Seattle Dog Parks

1. Luther Burbank Dog Park Mercer Island

This was my favorite park to bring Pixie when we lived in the Seattle area.  It is nestled on Lake Washington facing Bellevue.  There are multimillion dollar houses on either side of the park and your pup can swim and hang out there.  The dog park which was renovated a few years ago includes a Small/Shy Dog Area as well as a Large Dog Area.  The large dog area features two access points if your dog enjoys swimming-there is a large dog beach and a smaller area on the right hand side.  I think that Luther Burbank is the best dog park in the Seattle Area because all of the dogs are well behaved,  smart and aware hoomans and the access to the lake.

2. Marymoor Dog Park Redmond

This is one of my favorite dogs parks in the Seattle area and what I lovingly refer to as Doggie Disneyland! Marymoor features 40 acres of where your dog can roam and have fun.  Anecdotally, I've been almost been taken out by the knees by a few dogs who were having so much fun with friends they met at the park that hoomans do not exist! It is fun seeing dogs having that much fun!

Marymoor Dog Park includes fields, woods and a river, with well maintained access beaches, paths, walkways and bridges.  Over six miles of looping trails offer a variety of dog walking opportunities.  Five river access points are available for dogs that like to swim and water retrieve.  Acres of natural fields are available for dog romping, fetching and exploring.  Another great thing about Marymoor is the fact that S.O.D.A is a volunteer organization which accepts donations and has a membership to help support the upkeep of the park.

3. Dr. Jose Rizal Dog Park Seattle

Are you looking for a dog park with a million dollar view? Look no further than Dr. Jose Rizal's Dog Park on the edge of Beacon Hill. This off-leash area is located just south of downtown on the north end of Beacon Hill. It is currently 4 acres and offers spectacular views of Puget Sound looking west and to the Seattle Downtown skyline looking north.

4.  Magnuson Dog Park Seattle

Magnuson is a gorgeous dog park that is both the largest dog park within Seattle and also the only park within Seattle proper with waterfront access. You and your dogs can roam within the 9 acres around mostly flat areas and also make your way down a nice trail to Lake Washington. Plus, Magnuson Park has a little something for everyone, with a small and shy dog area.

The reasons that I do not love Magnuson is that I have encountered some very bad dog owners and I've heard horror stories of dogs being killed by aggressive unsupervised canines.  Although a beautiful park, I'd be careful and be very conscious of dogs while you are at the park.

Parking: Multiple parking lots
